That happens a lot. I missed out on K5, but I've heard many a story from our friend Brogdel here. I joined another well-known discussion board back in 2003 that got pretty big as well, and the money was also embezzled, although on a much larger scale. They ripped off investors for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I inherited what was left of the community and built another moderately successful forum, but eventually walked away from the headache. THIS is much more my style.
